What is the deal with blue ray dvd players?
My friend just bought a playstation 3 and new huge hdtv. I have seen Blue Ray players in the upwards of $2, 000. Why would I spend that kind of money when I can simply buy a ps3? I want to know the difference between ps3 blue ray players and the super expensive ones. To me it sound the same as dvd players, and for the most part it is hard to find one that is better than the other. What do you think?

$2000 dollars for a blu ray player? where the hell did you see that at? no a blu ray player should run anywhere from $150-$400 there is no difference between a PS3 bluray and a regular one…so if your looking into spending around 3 to 4 hundred just get a PS3…lol but they’re seriously is no difference
The PS3 is currently the best blu-ray player for cost, reliability and features. Don’t forget that it’s an awesome media hub to boot. Go for PS3, you won’t regret it. Cause you get a console aswell as your player. It’s basically a console that is a free blu ray player. PlayStation 3 is a Video Game console with Blu-ray compatibility. If you’re going to play Dvd Movies mostly, then I would opt for just the Blu-ray player but if you feel you will be playing games, the PS3 is a great option but you will not have a true remote control like in a dedicated DVD player.
Daniel said it best. “best answer” for him for sure.
Well…you can buy a Blu-Ray player for $299-$399 range…NOT over $2,000. With that in mind a PS3 is running around $399 with 80GB. So it is very close in price. It is just a matter of personal preference. Are you a gamer? Are you a young professional? Are you married? Do you want a PS3 in your living room entertainment center? These are some of the reasons for choosing a PS3 or a Blu-Ray player. If you are just watching movies then you should go with the Blu-Ray.
