Tips for installing surround sound for home theater
With the growing popularity of HDTV, watching a DVD movie at home is an experience of great entertainment. The image is crisp, clear and vibrant. But what about sound? After all, one of the real attractions of going to a movie surround sound lets you hear all the details. So is there a way to bring that kind of audio in our homes too? Of course!
In surround sound has actually been around for a while now in one form or another, but never just had a platform to bring it into the mainstream before HDTV and digital media such as DVD became so frequent. But now, combining the right equipment, a person can actually closely simulate the movie theater experience right in the convenience from home at any time.
For surround sound, you need three things, (a) a source that already has a surround sound encoded in it, as a DVD or HDTV broadcast, (2) equipment to decode the surround sound signal, and (3) at least 6 speakers including a subwoofer to take full advantage of most popular 5\.1 surround sound format. It's called 5.1 because it uses five channels of sound to drive 5 separate speakers and 0.1 for the subwoofer is low frequency.
Once you have the equipment needed to make a surround sound setup that will be suitable for your home. Much of the rest area will be determined by the size and type of TV you have. If a 40 "HDTV, which is a very common size, you may be able to sit about 5-8 feet away and not notice any type of degradation in image quality. Just experiment with the distance until it seems comfortable seats though. So normally the two front speakers flanking TV, but make sure they are large enough to form a triangle with the seating area so that all will be in the sweet spot of sound.
The two rear speakers are often placed somewhere in the rest area and face either a side or back wall. He the media should be located somewhere near the TV and the subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room you like, as it puts out under such low frequency that seems to come from everywhere.
All listening rooms have different characteristics but due to its layout and decor, so feel free to experiment until you find the combination that works best for you. A surround sound system may seem difficult, but it is simply getting the right equipment and place the speakers where they produce the best sound in general.
