How I can find a new Power Supply for my pc?

my pc some time ago (I gave my old school) just will not start. Now I think my power supply. but no one seems to carry compaq power supplies and wondered how I could find a new one that will work. now the city of circuit has told me just to get the maximum tension and work. but have not been the most reliable, often making things worse. so some one please help

You do not need a specific brand of power supply, just make sure it is a high enough voltage. If it is a tension higher than it needs, it will work fine. You also need to ensure that the power supply is adjusted in the case, and if your motherboard requires a 24-pin power plug, make sure the power supply has one.
