home theater, blu ray, cable box help?
Ok, so I just bought a 7.1 home theater in a box (panasonic bt300). The receiver / blu ray player that came with it only has 1 hdmi output. So currently, I have an Hdmi Cable running from the receiver to my TV. I can watch blu ray movies and everything works fine.
BUT
When I switch to cable (Verizon fios hd box) I have no sound coming from my home theater.
I have heard about going the optical route, but I really want to have my home theater + cable box connected via hdmi cable.
Would anyone recommend a hdmi splitter running from my receiver so I could connect my cable box + receiver + tv? Is there a simpler way to go about this?

Your receiver appears to not have any HDMI inputs, just an HDMI output, but it does have two optical audio inputs. So I don't think you can run the cable box's HDMI output into the receiver, but you can still run digital audio to it.
Leave the cable box plugged into the TV with an HDMI cable for video, but also connect an optical cable from the cable box to the receiver for audio. You will still get the best picture for your TV, and the receiver will play the surround audio.
The only drawback is that each time you want to switch between watching the cable box or the Blu-ray player, you will have to select the input source for two devices every time, both the TV (it will have two video sources, HDMI1 and 2) and the receiver (which will have two audio sources, the internal Blu-ray player and the cable box's optical).
