What is HDMI or Hdmi Cable?
By now almost everyone has an HDTV or home theater system is familiar with an HDMI cable. If not, you should know it right away! To guide you through this process I have described some basic information about the HDMI cables you should know.
For starters, HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and the name is basically a description of what the cable does. Audio transmits high definition and video via a single cable. The cable is used with audio and video equipment such as Blu-ray DVD players and HDTVs. The cable itself is very similar to a USB cable, but with 19 individual wires wrapped within a single HDMI cable. What makes the HDMI so unique and valuable is that it is capable of transmitting bandwidth of 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second). This is remarkable considering that is twice the bandwidth needed to transmit multi-channel audio and video, which more or least ensures that the HDMI cable will be around for the foreseeable future.
You should be able to see why this "future proof" aspect of cable HDMI makes a superior choice over their predecessors, component video, S-Video and composite video. But it is not the only reason it is superior. HDMI is a source pure, uncompressed digital, while the others are all analog. The difference is simple, analog cables have a digital signal and converts it into an analog signal less clear which is transmitted to your TV. This signal is converted back to a digital signal is displayed on the screen. With this the original signal conversion, begins to decompose and lose clarity, resulting in a poor picture and audio quality. An HDMI cable maintains the original digital signal, eliminating any need for conversion, which gives the clearest, sharpest picture and audio possible.
The next thing you need to know about HDMI cable is that it comes in different versions. Through its technical evolution of the different versions of HDMI have appeared. These include: HDMI 1.0, HDMI 1.1, HDMI 1.2, HDMI 1.2a and HDMI 1.3. Each incarnation HDMI cable in the same physical and use the same connectors, and remember that all new versions are compatible with its predecessor, thus eliminating the worry to get the right version of HDMI. Any age of audio / video you have to work with newer computers, regardless of which version is used HDMI cable.
Due to this backwards compatibility, the major version you should focus your attention on is the new version, HDMI 1.3. Has a width 340MHz bandwidth and a maximum bit rate of 10.2 Gbps (Besides the ability to increase bandwidth in the future.) It has built the "Deep Color ", which handles 10-bit, 12 bit and 16 bit color for more than a billion possible colors. (Note - the color information is based on the primary colors red, green and blue. So you can see the color depth of 30-bit ,36-bit or 48 bit). There is also support for "xvColor. Both" Deep Color "and" xvColor " are increasingly common in all new Blu-ray. For audio, the HDMI version 1.3 is capable of producing lossless compressed signal audio digital audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Basically, all you have to worry about which version of HDMI 1.3 will fit all your needs in both old and new equipment.
The last thing you need to know, but not least, is what the HDMI cable to buy. When you go to a store you will see HDMI cables that range in price from $ 10 to $ 100. Makes the difference in price reflects the quality of HDMI cable? Will you have a better idea or more HMDI cable signals with a more expensive? The answer is NO. Regardless of what information is given, most experts agree that there is no difference in performance quality between differently priced cables. So buy a cheap cable $ 10 more than meet your needs for high definition, and going with cable cheaper than you can save $ 50 or $ 60 in the process.
