What causes the sound to cease within five minutes of playing a DVD movie on my desktop PC?

First my PC is a bit old. I keep running 98se on a 1 GHz Athlon Thunderbird with 384 SDRAM, a 128-card creative soundblaster sound, multimedia, a 6 in 1 mad dog dvd burner and a lot of hard disk space. My movies start and run very well with all the menu functions, with about five minutes, but my sound reproduction disappears but the video and everything else work still valid. There are no other programs running in the background with sound files. It does this with PowerDVD 5 and all my other software players (PC Friendly, InterActual, etc.). This team works very well in all respects except for this little problem. Any ideas? (Before someone says, "Only you have to go buy a computer of this generation !".... I have a new computer and it is used for the specific job for which is more than capable.

The best thing I can think to recommend that would cost a fortune and make your PC a better world would be to upgrade the operating system to Windows 2000 professional. You should be able to pick one up on ebay for under $ 100 and you find that your PC is running a trillion times better ga. Do not bother with XP, do not really have enough equipment to handle ... and I think it sucks anyway. I run 2000 Pro on my machines and all work well considering that it is still microsoft. You have a lot of RAM and a processor fast enough to handle 2000 Pro very well.
