I bought the S1800 (which Amazon offers a very attractive price, brand), because I had problems with my S1500, an earlier raid Yamaha This place: a DVD player that will also play SACD. The S1500 is bad news, unreliable, and I realized when I have it was a "new" team with a guarantee of short-term (30 days). Of course, defects became apparent that only when the period covered. I had the S1500 Freecycle, no action available, but other devices Yamaha I've had have all been such good quality that it was ready to cancel. The S1800, I'm glad to say that everything is supposed to do the S1500, but without the maddening defects. Reliable operation, good video, excellent sound. I especially like that has multichannel analog outputs, plus the usual digital outputs (optical, coaxial). The only reason I do not give five stars for ease of use, which follows the whim of Yamaha to have separate buttons the remote control to turn on and off. It's easy to forget this and get frustrated trying to switch off the device - until you remember the fad.
Ultimately, a worthy purchase.

Even at its current price, remains a notable business. You do not see the quality of construction like this anymore unless they spend hundreds of dollars. I'm glad you did'nt go with Sony NS710H, this is sooooo much nicer. When his wife notices a piece of stereo lol you know it's quality. I think it's bottom, without thinking best Upconverting Dvd player can be purchased, being able to play SACD is only gravy at this price.
