New lamp installed dlp still no picture, loud hum?
I suspect a bad color wheel. without a model number and brand I can say a whole is like DLP Rear Projection light their lamps, as a rule. If you look this bad noise several seconds after the power "on" is initiated, and the noise changes pitch (speed changes) and then stops (you can do this sequence three times depends on the manufacturer) and after that you still hear the cooling fans, then suspect the color wheel. Two things going wrong is the bearings start taking, and the second problem is some of the color filters are started the engine. This causes the balance to be outside and the color wheel vibrates causing a loud noise. Some manufacturers that make this piece replaceable, and in others it is necessary to replace all the "light engine." These pieces are about $ 150 - $ 250 plus labor force, the engine replacements are often too expensive to repair. (Rebuilt engines can be as cheap as $ 400, and the new engines could be $ 1200)
