Optical disk technology, by far, has reached its full potential in today's world. An optical disc is an used for data storage and optical drive is what is used to read these disks and to write to them. Blue ray disc is very different from a normal DVD and consists of a ferromagnetic material sealed with a layer of plastic. There are different types of optical disk drives and some of a famous well known are the units Blue ray.

Blue ray drives allow reading and writing data to a Blue ray disc with a storage capacity of 25 GB to 50 GB. Unlike other records, Blue ray discs are read-write on both sides. The way the work of the Blue ray units is quite fascinating. The blue laser drives are inside. The computer can read and write data to a Blue ray disc, because of this laser. During the entire disk read, a laser beam is projected onto the disc. This reflects a light. Light can change depending on the magneto-optical Kerr effect.

The BDA, also known as the Blue ray disc association comprised of some of the well known giants of consumer electronics. According to them almost every Blue ray discs must be able to read the traditional type of DVD's and CD's. This is known as compatibility back.

While many consumers still use the standard DVD's and CD's to watch movies and listen to songs, the disc format blue ray has gained more popularity over time. This is mainly due to its high storage capacity and exceptional performance. Who would buy a DVD Traditional it can only store up to 10 GB instead of buying a Blue ray disc can store between 25 GB to 50 GB?

During the early days there were some manufacturers who launched products such as Blue Ray Dvd players and Blue Ray discs that played not only DVD's and CD. But today, many companies have corrected this problem by improving the quality of their products. These days you can buy Blue Ray drives and players that can read DVD's and CD's.

Having a large storage space compared with other drives is one of the biggest advantages is Blue ray disc. Due to increased sales, manufacturers of desktop computers and notebook computers have built-in Blue-ray drives in them. Most computer systems ship with Blue ray drives installed in them. The Sony Playstation-3 also has a Blue ray drive being incorporated.

Competition between the manufacturer of DVD and Blue Ray discs have become very strong as the Blue ray disc has more points more than the DVD. After all, who would want a DVD with low storage space when the Blue Ray Disk can be purchased with more storage space and more features?
